Industry leaders join forces to improve the wellbeing of miners Metal Tech News – May 26, 2021

Hexagon Mining Inc. has signed a partnership with Fatigue Science to improve its MineProtect safety portfolio to increase the safety and wellbeing of mining employees.

Hexagon and Fatigue Science are at the forefront of innovation to help mines increase output and prevent accidents caused by fatigue or distracted operators of vehicles and equipment. The partnership signifies the completion of a 360-degree safety management platform – providing complete, end-to-end visibility into operator fatigue, alertness and collision avoidance in a single offering.

"We're thrilled to be partnering with Fatigue Science, whose record in enhancing safety and productivity across mining, heavy industry and other complex organizations speaks for itself," Ryan Hawes, vice-president of MineProtect said during the May 20 announcement of the collaboration. "We couldn't be more aligned on our core belief, namely the most important assets coming out of a mine are the people who make mining possible."

Hexagon Mining is a global leader in sensor, software and autonomous technologies. Leveraging data to boost efficiency, productivity and quality across industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, safety, and mobility applications.

Hexagon's MineProtect portfolio comprises solutions integrated with its collision avoidance system, an industry leading technology for proximity detection, built on more than a decade's experience with more than 30,000 units at work worldwide.

Fatigue Science is a leading provider of predictive fatigue analytics and human performance insights for heavy industry, elite sports and military. Based in Canada, Fatigue Science serves cutting-edge organizations who understand the importance of sleep as well as the value of data-driven decision-making.

Supplementing Hexagon's MineEnterprise and MineProtect portfolios with actionable data from the Fatigue Science platform will provide predictive fatigue insights to mine leadership; health, safety, and environment teams; front-line supervisors; and operators themselves - empowering informed decisions to continually improve safety and productivity.

"We are delighted to join forces with Hexagon to address the large and rapidly growing need we're seeing – particularly in mining – for a comprehensive, data-driven solution that maximizes human performance and reduces operator risk," said Fatigue Science CEO Andrew Morden. "With Readi's scientifically-validated predictive data on operator fatigue, and Hexagon's proven solutions for real-time operator alertness and collision avoidance, mining firms now have a 360-degree view of the risks and opportunities that affect their workforce, all on a single platform."

Readi is the platform offered by Fatigue Science, a fatigue management information system that enhances productivity and safety in mining, heavy industry, and other complex organizations.

Readi sports an exclusive algorithm developed by researchers at the US Army and has been validated in studies by the US Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration and Harvard.

This, paired with the portfolios of Hexagon, will bring forth a truly encompassing and complete strategy to total health and wellbeing tracking for men and women in a heavy equipment environment.
