The Elements of Innovation Discovered

Exyn Technologies, NSS team up in Canada

Mutual values of safety, efficiency create perfect mining pair Metal Tech News – June 30, 2021

Mining drone expert Exyn Technologies Inc. has forged a partnership with NSS Canada as the primary distributor of its line of autonomous aerial robots for the Canadian market.

"We're proud to expand our worldwide footprint with this partnership by empowering surveyors with a suite of highly accurate cavity monitoring tools," said Exyn Technologies CEO Nader Elm. "More Aeros (ExynAero) and Paks (ExynPak) in the field means more safety for mine workers in Canada and beyond."

As one of the largest mining countries in the world, Canada has first-hand experience for what is needed and wanted in the mining industry. Canadian underground mining companies, especially, are always looking for ways to increase safety and efficiency. Now, with the availability of cutting-edge autonomous robots, those companies have a tried-and-true solution to those needs.

For over three decades, Northern Survey Supply Canada has been successfully integrating technologies in the mining and surveying space to increase safety, accuracy and efficiency. A distributor of Leica Geosystems products and an agent of the Hexagon Mining Portfolio, NSS Canada also provides its Miner Operated Survey System or MOSS, underground survey software, to provide a reliable hand – backed with decades of input from miners, geologists and engineers.

"NSS Canada believes in the rapid adoption of cutting-edge technologies that can revolutionize the mining industry by increasing safety, speed and accuracy," said Bruno Lalonde, president of NSS Canada. "Exyn Technologies is a pioneer in the industrial drone space, whose autonomous drone technology reduces the possibility of human error in potentially dangerous environments."

As the number of mining fatalities decrease every year due to technological advancements – the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) reports there were 29 fatalities in 2020, making it the sixth consecutive year mining fatalities were below 30, a historic low – Exyn is leading the movement with its ExynAero autonomous and self-piloting aerial drone.

"Our mutual dedication to safety and innovation through technology is why we believe this is the perfect partnership!" add Lalonde.

The ExynAero operates using a high level of autonomy (the first level 4) to access complex, GPS-denied environments, predominantly within the mining industry.

This latest partnership allows mining customers in Canada to benefit from comprehensive underground aerial 3D mapping with progressive visualization that increases overall transparency of mining operations – including GPS-denied, hard-to-reach or hazardous locations that would be time-consuming to survey and inspect using conventional methods.

With the synergy of the partnership seen through a mutual prioritization of safety and efficiency, this announcement highlights these values. NSS Canada has long endeavored to provide tools and solutions that unsure underground procedures can be done safer, faster and with more accuracy while Exyn's autonomous drone allows data to be collected without humans subjecting themselves to potentially life-threatening locations and situations.
